Becoming involved with Luzon University in Dagupan has been a completely different situation than at BSU. Here, a team already came through and established an awesome relationship with the university. As Ronald, the Encounter minister here, puts it, 'they treat me like a king at LU.' Basically whatever we want to do is possible. We had our proposal and legal agreement done for us here! Being American in the Philippines basically means you're looked at as a celebrity. Students want their picture taken with you, and your words can have a major impact on lives. The awesome thing is you can speak about Christianity in the classroom even though it's a state university!
I taught psych in 3 classes yesterday, and Katie and Will spoke in the multi purpose room to all the education majors on Christian values. Today we spoke to over 300 high schoolers on sexual purity. Tomorrow we will be headed out into the community to work with kids (the university places great emphasis on community service and involvement). It's been encouraging to see what working with a university could be like as we work on building a relationship with BSU.
We spent half the day at the beach today:)
